Thank you for you patience as we work this out.
I will change the process slightly this weekend - to test some options.
The objective is to get to a simple robust way of doing things
(Eventually it should be just a one line message "weekend spins open on RWGPS")
Four events have been posted (Sat/Sun, Yellow&White)
Riders/Leaders/Minders can now signup on RWGPS if they:
- Have completed the Eventbrite return (you only need to do this once)
- Are a current member of Orwell Wheelers
- Are a member of Cycling Ireland (for insurance purposes)
Sunday will be very similar to last week
Riders who register will be divided into groups.
A route will be assigned to each group.
A leader will be assigned to each groups (and also minders for Whites)
(leaders will be chosen from the list of people who volunteered previously)
Saturday
We expect fewer than usual people, as many leaders and riders will be in Mullingar on the Adventure / Touring event.
Riders who register for Saturday will be divided into suggested groups.
A route will be suggested for each group
Groups should agree a leader before leaving
The Group Leader must fill in the details of the ride on Cycling Ireland web application.
The routes will be the same as last weekend - but I will attempt to put people in groups going to different destinations this time.
(Survey feedback suggested we need to get more people familiar routes destinations)

If they meet at Dundrum SC car park we dispatch Red @ 9:00 and Orange @ 9:05.
I post a suggested route (but tbh I’m not exactly sure what they want- so I presume they go wherever makes sense on the day)

More than 100 people signed up for the spins in May, with more than half of those getting out several times. We would encourage people to organise their own spins this weekend.
For those uncertain about navigation - maybe repeat one of the May spins - solo or with a friend or two. (Route names are Start-Distance-Climb-Destination)
DD-062-0337-Malahide
DD-070-0410-Dunboyne
DD-075-0440-Maynooth
DD-067-0650-Blessington
Alternatively there are lots of routes in the Orwell Library on RideWithGPS. You can filter these based on distance and/or climbing to find something suitable.

Please adhere to public health advice

On both days:
Whites will have a flat 77km spin to Sallins (with an option to shorten to 55km)
Yellows have a few hills on a 72km spin to Roundwood and NMK
I'll post a suggestion for Orange and Red later
Riders/Leaders/Minders can now signup
either via the RWGPS app, or via a browser at
ridewithgps.com/organizations/4124-orwell-wheelers/events
(events are visible if you are logged in)
RSVP to give us an idea of how many riders to expect, and how many leaders are available
As restrictions are easing the dispatcher will form groups on the morning.
Please do NOT respond on this forum.
