A small race tonight, only 9 starters with a couple of late-comers missing sign-on.
One starter each in Limit and Semi-limit joined forces early on, but couldn't hold off a determined Semi-scratch chase group of five. Fergal Quinn then fell victim to technical issues just to rub salt in the wound.
Behind, the Scratch duo of Dave Mc and Shaun Kelly kept the pace high, but the handicap of 90 seconds to SS proved too much in the end.
A tight four-way sprint saw Peadar Corbally try for the two in the row, after being aggressive off the front through the race. Darran Kearney was hot on his heels but Brian McArdle timed his sprint perfectly to nip them both on the line, with Dick O'Brien just off the podium in 4th. Less than six tenths of a second separated the first four after an hour of racing, with Ken O'Neill bringing up the rear in 5th.
Dave Mc bested Kelly on the run-in for the final points, having brought the SS advantage down to 37".

You were being kind to me, Brian! The technical issues were my legs..
Barry and myself were working well enough together but we needed a bigger group and when it did come, I got caught out when someone put a small dig in and went too far off the back. And that was it.

Unless anyone objects I think we will use the Roche GP in lieu of next week’s league race, and take the top 6 Orwell riders from each of the three races for league points.
If anyone really wants to keep a separate league race for next Thursday, get your spoke in here before Monday, if there is demand (at least 5 riders) then it’s no problem to put that on.

We’re coming to the end of our virtual league and will hopefully be back real world racing in the next two weeks, so this is probably our penultimate round- it’s a Canary Wharf CP, Limit to go from the gun, Semi-limit to jump on after 1 lap, Semi-scratch after 2 laps, Scratch after 3.
