Junior Ailbhe Ivory (Bray Wheelers) emerged victorious in Round 3 of the Wicklow League in an exciting finish which saw many of the handicapped groups coming together just before the end. With only 12 seconds splitting the top 14, Ailbhe displayed the sprinting skills she has honed on the track to power in clear of the field, winning in a time of 37:19.

Wicklow League Round 4 - 23rd June 2009

Round 4 of the Wicklow League saw all the bunches come together on the last lap to set up a mass bunch gallop. Orwell's Sandra Telford made a brave lone attack for the finish in the last mile, but the bunch was too attentive to allow the break to succeed. Kate Rudd was a clear winner of the massed bunch sprint, in front of young Ailbhe Ivory once again showing her sprinting prowess and easily beating more experienced riders Jenny McCauley into 3rd and

On another sunny Tuesday evening, over 20 women signed on for Round 5 of the Wicklow League. Jenny McCauley was missing from action this week, but the race organisation had been left in very capable hands, and everyone was ready to go at 7.30pm. The Scratch group had only two riders – Sandra Fitzgerald and myself from Stagg Lucan CRC, and we set off first to complete five laps. Sandra Telford took her maiden road race victory in the final round of the Wicklow Women's League on Tuesday night.
Michelle Geoghegan finished a fine second in the first round of the Zoo Hair Salon Women's National League at the Cycling Pursuits event in Broadford, Co. Limerick on Sunday.

Michelle Geoghegan just missed out on top spot in the latest round of the Zoo Salon Women's National League in Tydavnet near Emyvale in County Monaghan on Sunday, but the Orwell star's third top two placing from the opening four rounds was still good enough to move her level at the top of the points standings.
Despite the weather putting up a constant challenge, with rain and wind most weeks, we saw some of the best boot inn racing to date! For the final round, while the turn out was relatively low, four previous league winners turned up, with three time winner Roisin Kennedy (Lucan) in joint first place with Orla McEvoy (Bray Wheelers).
Another damp and windy Wednesday at the Boot Inn didn't curb the enthusism of cyclists, race organisers and supporters alike. The penultimate 20 mile race was hosted by Lucan Staggs and brought another shuffle in the make-up of the Limit, Semi-Scratch and Scratch groups to add to the uncertainity of how the race would unfold.
It was another windy night for round 4 of the Boot Inn League, which was a 10-mile time trial. Joanne O'Shea took charge of running the event with Gary McElroy out to lend a hand. Thanks to the marshals – Dave McLoughlin, Michelle Geoghegan, Jimmy Lally and Sean Lally – and to the paparazzo, Brendan Culleton.
