Sunday Mountains Group starts 9th of April was created by Peadar Corbally
With the end of the winter spins I'm starting the Sunday Mountains group back up on the 9th of April
For anyone unfamiliar with this group its run for the last number of years over the summer. It started as a spin aimed at people training for events like the Etape, Marmotte etc and expanded to be a mountains training spin for club members in general.
Spins start at the Yellow House in Rathfarnham at 8am on Sundays heading to Laragh for coffee.
The exact route changes every week and will include pretty much every hill between Yellow House and Laragh over the course of the summer. Routes will be between about 83km and 110km in terms of distance and the elevation will vary between 1,300 to 2,200 meters.
Routes are posted on this thread every week.
The aim is that everyone is back in Dublin between 12 and 1. This means the pace is generally orange pace and upwards. The aim is keep everyone together on flatter sections with people going their own pace up climbs and regrouping afterwards. The exact pace on a particular day depends on who turns up.

I won't be around this week but a group will still be leaving the yellow house at 8am on Sunday
The suggested route is up Cruagh, Featherbeds. Glenmacnass to Laragh for coffee. Back via Lough Dan, Djouce, Liam Horner and the featherbeds
86km and 1,600 meters of climbing

Also for anyone who wants a to start at a later time, an orange group is still leaving the old Dundrum center every Sunday at 9.10. Its a group of people who did the winter orange spins and are continuing with them over the summer. The exact route is decided on the day.

Just to note the weather is still a bit iffy for Sunday. If its very wet the alternative route will be around the lakes via Laken, Vallymount and Blessington

Hi John,
I might just join you, if that's OK. Have to be back in Blackrock for 1pm at the latest. So depending on your route after Laragh I may or may not split off.
Cheers David
