Hello all,
I'm organizing a 12 peaks spin this coming Saturday 15th June. Plan is to meet down in Laragh (most people drive out and meet outside the coffee shop) and roll out at 8am sharp.

Route: Shay Elliot, Sliabh Maan, Brown Mountain to the top, descend Brown Mt, backside of Shay, Sliabh Maan, then onto Wicklow Gap, Turloch hill, descend down the Gap and to laragh for lunch.

After lunch we do it all again minus the Gap and Turloch hill.

We will have about 3,200 m elevation in 112km and it's either up and down so pacing is crucial.

This spin is open to all. Some people will want to take on the whole challenge, some do 6 peaks whilst others do 8 or 9. It is totally dependent on how you are feeling on the day.

The aim is to split into groups of different levels and keep a steady pace with designated regrouping, however we will not be stopping on the top of every hill.

We will all be responsible for ourselves, our food, nutrition and hydration.

Bring plenty of food and water and be well rested, it's going to be an epic day.

Don't worry if you can't make this spin, Gar Connolly is planning on repeating in July and I'm sure he'll keep you posted.

Hope to see a big gang out!

Hi all,
It's that time of the year again, where we cycle to see if Turlock Hill and Wicklow Gap count as one or two hills.

The 12 Peaks is generally the last big hitout for any cyclists hoping to do a foreign sportive or raid.
Apart from the cycling, it's important to nail your pacing, equipment and nutrition.

All are invited.
Everyone will be going at their own pace, and you can pick and mix that climbs you want.

12 Peaks, Saturday 24th of June, 08:00 Rollout from Laragh, Carpooling suggested, you can't park in front of Clodagh's (side road only), same details as the post above.

We might revise Brown Mountain, as it's surface is reportedly really bad.
Maybe add another Shay Elliott each part of the end of that leg, or the other side of Wicklow Gap and Turlock Hill. As that will give us the missing two Brown Mountain climbs.

Route: 12 Peaks, 113km, 3300m .

See you then.

Just bumping this, as it's on this Saturday.

Temperatures look good, but there be some light rain showers, as Friday's rainy weather front moves northwest.

We had great weather, and an 18 strong Peloton.
Congrats to everyone who hit their goal on the day.

Unfortunately the 12 Peaks, unlike The Monster, doesn't have a Hall of Fame, but The Streets Will Never Forget Eoin Byrne's 200km 4300m outing.

Best of luck to everyone in the Etape and Pyrenees and their other events for the rest of the summer.

Our next, and final, In-Forum-al Spin is Tour de Beast on Saturday the 19th of August, which wraps up the summer.
