Inter Club League 2023

Hi all,
Planning has begun for this year's league. Here is some preliminary info for those planning to race:

• We will be rejoining the Inter Club League this 2023. This will be a joint league involving ourselves, St. Tiernans, Lucan, Blanchardstown Wheelies, Irish Road Club, and Sundrive. 
• Entry to the league this year will be done via Eventmaster. We expect entries to open in early February and close around St Patricks Day. No late entries will be accepted. 
• Anyone entering the league for the first time will have to do a mandatory training briefing. 
• Once entries close a marshal roster will be drawn up and you'll likely be scheduled to marshal two races. No-shows receive an automatic one year suspension. You can arrange a swap but you'll be responsible for your replacement showing up.
• Points will be awarded for the top six in each race. 
• Promotions will be given to anyone demonstrating a strong performance in races. This will be decided by the league organisers. Anyone who earns 18 points in the league will get an automatic promotion to the next group.
• Riders are strongly encouraged to wear their club kit to all races.
• To enter the league, you'll need to have a limited competition or open competition licence. 
• Anyone who has Cycling Ireland open racing or IVCA numbers is encouraged to use their jersey and frame numbers in the league to assist in identifying placers. 
• There is a prize fund for overall, women, and youths.
• We will still continue to award trophies and medals for the top Orwell riders in championship events, 10 miler, 25 mile, Hill Climb and Road Race.The Orwell club league trophy will be awarded to the top Orwell rider in the Inter Club League

Quick update on this. Entries will be opening in the next week or so and will be done via Eventmaster. A draft timetable is attached. I don't expect the final version to differ too much.
 

The league is jointly administered by the member clubs, with each club delegating two reps to the organizing committee. The Orwell reps are myself and Damien Long. Major decisions, including rules and disciplinary matters are taken collectively. Note that Damien and I will not have discretion to make decisions unilaterally.

Not yet, no. We'd expected it to be live by now but we're still waiting on Cycling Ireland to approve the event. I suspect there's a bit of a backlog given that there's so many events being applied for at this time of year. I plan to put a notice up on the front page and update this thread once entry is open.

1. You won't be allowed race unless you've paid your Orwell membership fees for 2023.
2. Newcomers will have to attend a mandatory information session on race safety and marshalling. It'll be run over Zoom. (You'll still be able to enter the league, but you'll need to attend this before starting a race).

As you'll see on Eventmaster, there are different tickets for each handicap group. Pick whatever group you finished last year in. Newcomers should select Limit. Juniors and U16 should select the Underage/junior ticket to avail of free entry.There's a bit of a bug in Eventmaster at the moment where some tickets aren't visible to some users. If you don't see your group there, don't worry, try again on Monday or Tuesday.

If you do select the wrong group, don't worry. We can move you before the league starts.

Hey Eric, this is something I wanted to do but the delay in getting entries open means we're up against the clock in terms of trying to organise something. I'm still trying to get my hands on contact details for new entrants. We may just do an introductory talk before the first race on Weds instead.

OK, for first time entrants, if at all possible, can you arrive early at Corkagh Park on Wednesday where there'll be a quick briefing on racing and marshalling prior the race at 7pm?
