Zwift 2023

Following on from last years Zwift 2022 thread, where we seen lots of riders have success in the WTRL ZRL events and the CyclingIreland eRacing League.

No one wants to go back on the Turbo Trainer after the long Summer, but alas it's an inevitability due shortening daylight hours. Plus, there'll be the storms in February.
Bonus Points: You'll be able to turn off your house's heating during your sessions, thus saving you money whilst being super warm.

ZwiftPower Teams: Cycling Ireland , Team RWB and Orwell Wheelers .
You can join multiple teams, and set a default one.

Zwift Event Tags: #CyclingIreland and #RidingWithoutBorders .
RWB and CI have events for every day of the week.

You must be a "Moderator" Role to create Zwift Club Events.

Benefits:
The benefits of a Zwift Club are that we can host our own Events (Group Rides, Races, Group Workouts), without having to go through Zwift's Events Module. The Group Workouts are limited to a few off-the-peg workouts from Zwift's Library. Hopefully this will be built out before Winter to allow us to use more expansive workouts and custom workouts.
The Zwift Club will now replace the MeetUp Rides that we used during Lockdown, this reduces manual effort by Barry (thanks Barry), and the Club Events offer a "Late Join" functionality. But we lose the "Elastic" feature of the MeetUps that kept the group close together.

Club Kit:
For Club Events, please try to use the "Basic #2" kit, as it is the one the most closely resembles the Orwell Kit.

Primary Objective:
To keep Orwell Members engaged over the Winter Months.
This will take the form of supplementing the WinterSpins with a Virtual Offering each weekend.
Offering midweek Workouts, subject to people's interest, as the Zwift Calendar gets full.

Secondary Objective:
To onboard many of our best riders to create an Orwell eSports Team to compete in the upper echelons of the WTRL ZRL, and also InterClub eRacing in a Matchmaking 5v5 or 10v10 format.
Winter Sportives.
Winter Club League Racing, this might be too much racing though.
Workout Series to finalise preparations for The Club League, Open Racing and/or Orwell Women's Crit League. This is subject to the functionality being available.

If you would like to get involved to:

• Suggest Routes for WinterSpins to target Route Badges, please do so.
• Create Club Events, please request the "Moderator" role from me, let me know your Zwift username in the request.
• Be a Captain for an Orwell ZRL Team, please start the process.
• Throw down challenges to other clubs for an InterClub eRacing Matchmaking format, posse up and say "5v5 us bro".
• Select workouts for a workout series, or after Zwift release the custom workout feature, have a look at  the Zwift Workout Library and formulate a plan, or consult some cycling coaches that offer Club Coaching to best serve our members.

Zwift Academy Road 2022

Details: Zwift Academy Road 2022

Zwift are starting their annual community building and Talent Search.
You can see two years ago's Zwift Academy Jay Vine currently tearing up the Vuelta.

This year the Zwift Academy consists of eight checkpoints.
You'll need to start and finish with the Baseline Ride, these are filed under Group Rides.
Then there's a block of six workouts
You'll use the Baseline ride at the end to gauge how much you improved.

The Signup ends at: October 8, 2022.
The Academy Period is: September 12 to October 9, 2022.
There's additional requirements if you're trying to go Pro.

CyclingIreland 2022 eRacing Winter League
CI and RWB are running a Friday Evening Race League for eight weeks.
Register on EventMaster by round 3 to be included in the Results:  Cycling Ireland eRacing Winter League 2022 .
You'll need to know your Zwift ID when signing up, it's in your ZwiftPower URL's Query String. Cycling Ireland have a Explainer Video on their site.
Race eight is on a "Secret Course".

Details:  2022 eRacing Winter League Preview  and/or  Primór RWB Cycling Ireland Winter League 2022 .

At present, there is almost a full week of events:

• Monday: RWB Social Ride.
• Tuesday: CyclingIreland Group Workout.
• Wednesday: 
• Thursday: CyclingIreland Social Ride & RWB Group Workout.
• Friday: CI and RWB Racing League.
• Saturday: 
• Sunday: Orwell WinterSpins & RWB Race (Pens A-D) / Social Ride (Pen E).

The next four Sundays worth of WinterSpins are created on the Orwell Zwift Club.
All spins on Sundays at 09:30, with a 30 minute late join window.
