CL R8: Golden Ball, Thursday 29 July 19:00

Hi all,

Registration for Round 8 (19:00 start) now open: eventmaster.ie/event/nD4PCplH0v

This year, unfortunately there won't be a BBQ, for obvious reasons.

We are also asking people to go directly to the race start rather than congregating at the Golden Ball for a roll out, so please DO NOT meet at the Golden Ball.

The start point is at the shops on Kilgarron Hill near Enniskerry, and we would ask everyone racing to cycle out as there is no parking.

Marshals, it is absolutely vital that you show up on time. This is the most difficult race to marshal and Damien will need everyone there on the day.

Please check if you are down to marshal on the day.

If anyone is in need of refreshments after what surely will be an exhausting race, I'm planning on refuelling at the Golden Ball on the way home. They've a good few sheltered picnic tables in case of rain.

Niall, Andrew and John all finished on 19 points, so were separated based on their most recent results, as were Eoin and Anthony on 14.

Congrats to Eoin on taking the classification. He was dominant throughout, albeit pushed very closely by Barry, who even took the lead in Round 6.

Unfortunately we weren't able to continue the GC due to problems with identifying riders!

That's it for the league for this year. I'll be stepping down as league rep now, so I'll wrap up by saying a big thanks to all those who helped with running it this year: Stephen O'Shea, Damien Long, Dick O'Brien, Eoin Ahern, John Twomey, Peadar Corbally and the whole committee.

Luke, you did a BRILLIANT job in very awkward circumstances in Pandemic times (including virtual league) , and I know your efforts were hugely appreciated by very many, thank you!
