I won't make the meeting unfortunately, but I fully support the initiative. I think, thanks to the coaching provided, that the standard of leadership has risen over the past number of years. This is huge credit to the people who give up their time to help their fellow cyclists enjoy their time on the road. In my absence I would like to make the following comments so they can be considered in the overall thinking;
1. We should widen the pool of leaders by training new leaders. There are a lot of good people in the club that I feel would make excellent leaders.
2. There are people who would willingly co-lead, but don't want the responsibility of navigating the assigned route. They should be encouraged to help out.
3. There are some members who have bad habit(s). They need to be coached.
4. The new Ride With GPS system is excellent. Leaders (new & old), if required, should be taught how to use it? (I say this because I have been asked a few times).
5. Controlling the pace of the group is something that comes with experience. It has been said to me that the best leaders keep their group together. There are a number of component parts that go into this.
6. Good leaders are decisive and caring for their fellow cyclist.
I hope the above is of some assistance? Best of luck for the Evening!
Thanks
Stef
