CELTIC KNOT 1,000 AUDAX - thanks to Leonard Kaye

A three day event, the Celtic Knot route is set out in a clover leaf formation; comprising of three loops: 360km, 340km & 300km. All of these loops start and finish at the Aspire Sports Centre in Clara, Co. Offaly.

John Turner and Orwell PBP team member set off at 06:00 on Friday and made very good time covering the first 186kms to Enniscrone arriving at 13:10. This was the first day halfway point, and John made very good time with an avg. speed of 28.2km/h.
John says “…bit of a miserable day but making decent progress.” We presume John was taking about Friday’s weather, as John is never one for complaining.

By 22:00 John: was finished his first leg 360km and 2,190 m elevation said
“It’s a good set up here. Had a shower and food already. Will rest and get going at 6 again. 340 tomorrow so the days get shorter. 300 on Sunday so just gonna start at 6 each morning and get back by 10 each night”

We wish John well on his second day covering 341 km and a bit hillier at 2,499 of elevation as he heads south to Ennis and back home via Roscrea.
