Midlands 300
It's that time of year again!
The Midlands 300, also known as the Orwell 'One Lump' 300 will take place on Saturday July 7th 2018.
For those of you interested in pushing past the 200 km mark, this event provides a great opportunity to test your ambition, determination and fitness being by some distance the flattest 300 in the country with a relatively modest 1,716 m of climbing.
To the credit of the route designer, navigation is straightforward and towns offering shops, cafes and garages for refuelling can be found at regular intervals along the route.

Event Particulars:
Entry fee: €5 with a CI license; one day CI licenses also available for €5 on the day;

Entry form: Compulsory and to be found on the Event Page (link above);
Event Date: Saturday July 7th 2018;
Entry Closing date: Friday 29th June 2018;
Venue: Joe Daly Cycles - Dundrum - Dublin 14;
Start time: 6am sharp;
Venue opening time: 5:30am;
Facilities: Parking, toilets, bag storage and changing room available;
Route: Midlands 300 route.

While the official closing date for entries is today, if you get your entry in over the next few, you'll be in!

Last year's post (links incl. above) included some edited bits of 2016 advice from Dave Mc that might swing the decision for you:
Hi all, it's great that people are being audacious enough to consider taking on a 300, and if there's a gang of first timers doing it they will probably never find a better time to take the plunge.
Anyone who has ridden 200k in a day can do a 300, given the right day and route, but you can give yourself the best chance of success by choosing the time of year to maximise your fitness and give you the most hours of daylight. Going purely on hours of available daylight late June or early July is your best bet ….
… it is the simplest of all of the (300) routes in terms of navigation, finding food stops
et cetera.

I had posted I was doing it but can’t anymore, have a great day if you are doing it. I recommend it, no prob if you have a couple of 200s under your belt.
