Chapeau to Dee Currid and Bryan Johnson who organised the following :
The Leisure committee are delighted to announce details of our cycling skills programme for the autumn of 2017. Cycling skills are vital both for an individual rider and when riding in a group.
The course is aimed at both experienced and new riders. We have 34 places available for the first course but depending on demand this can be increased.
We have developed a 4 week progressive programme with fellow Orwell member and cycling Coach Aidan Hammond and his team.
The programme will build up essential cycling skills gradually and progressively and include
- Eating and drinking on the bike and in the group
- Looking behind cycling and in the group
- Riding close together and shoulder to shoulder
- Use of gears
- Braking / Stopping / Balance
- Cycling out of the saddle
- Riding in the drop position on the handlebars
- Cornering left and right bends, roundabouts and doing this in a group
- Riding one handed
- Bunny Hop (useful for jumping over a pothole or small obstacle)
Venue: Corkagh Park
Dates:
Sunday 17th September
Sunday October 1st
Saturday October 14th
Saturday October 21st
Time 10.30 to 12.30
