I'm supposed to work the Bank Holiday weekend but I might be able to swap for following weekend.
Anyone want to give a brief breakdown of the logistics?

I might regret posting this ….
.
A few (2 at least) are giving it serious consideration.
Hopefully Dave Mac - will give a more accurate description of the 2 options he gave us after the 300 – I was a bit tired to take it all in at the time.
Option 1- Leaving at 6 am. approx. Cycling 300km to Bunclody (with plenty of breaks along the way) arriving at about 10pm - possible short break and then moving on to arrive in Dundrum 3 am!
Option 2 - Leaving at 6 am. approx. cycling 300km to Bunclody (with plenty of breaks along the way) arriving at about 10pm - a meal - a sleep - and then moving on to arrive in Dundrum 6 am!
Option 3 - Only joking - if you are still reading this - make an appointment with a doctor….
Cheers
Leonard

Thinking of option 1 just bang through the thing at a steady pace short breaks as it is easy to lose a lot of time little and often. Danny assures us that a quick catnap in the doorway of Aldi in Bunclody will see us through to the end.
Thinking first break at Portloise then see how we go after that. Need to be a little clued in for the run home as it might be easy to get caught out for supplies as some shops etc are going to be closed later at night.
It will be a marathon so it will have to be a sustainable pace for hours and hours.
regards
Andrew

I can't afford a divorce at the moment so I'm out. Maybe next year.

Andrew, Leonard,
I can't afford a divorce at the moment so I'm out. Maybe next year.
Does that mean you can afford a divorce next year?

So it looks like it's: Colin, Andrew, myself, and possibly one other for the 400. I also hear that Snow White and a few contenders for Queen of Orwell might make an appearance!!!
Cheers,
Leonard

I think Andrew is getting a bit confused from our post 300 chat in Joes (must put a cap on his post ride beers)........ I recommended any Aldi or Lidl for a nocturnal cat nap on any route if required (preferably near the refrigeration vents for additional heat - it is pure luxury)........I have never done this route so not even sure if Bunclody has an ALDI.
Incidentally, I also recommend school sheds, church doorways and GAA clubhouses as places of refuge for tired eyelids :)

14 started this morning, 4 retirements and 10 finishers coming in between 17 and 22.5 hours.
Noel Finnegan,
Colin Coffey,
Tony Walsh and
Glyn Griffith
have joined the relatively exclusive group of Orwell riders who have cycled over 400k in one day.
They've all promised that they won't be back for the 600, and a few of them are thinking of selling their bikes, but I'm sure they're all glad that they gave it a go!
