Ballyknockan/Lacken temporary bridge

There's a temporary bridge between Ballyknockan and Lacken, but a word of warning: Don't attempt to ride across it. The surface is ribbed and will catch your wheels like tram tracks. This is not obvious as you approach the bridge, so take care.

Bumping this up for tomorrow's spin.

Holy s**t. Don't ride it. Seriously. My bike and myself are mangled wrecks. You don't see the evilness of the surface until it's too late. It's a bike trap.

Did this route with Orwell on New year's day. There is (now ?) a sign warning cyclists to dismount. highly recommended you do!

I'm not going to say there definitely wasn't a sign, but I didn't see it. I was coming from the Valleymount side and it comes at you all of a sudden with a winding downhill bit. I brought my speed down to what I thought was a reasonable rate (turns out there isn't one with this bridge) and my last thoughts were, "if I just track a straight line and don't hit the brakes, I aaaaarrrrgggggh....."
