Stephen McNally's groaning trophy cabinet is facing further stress following the Orwell supervet's latest success in the Michael McGuire Memorial race for veterans and juniors at Bohermeen.

The Dunboyne based rider soloed in ahead of the remains of a four man break which had gone clear on the first of five laps of a windswept 9.5 mile circuit centered on the County Meath village.

Eamonn Finn took eighth after escaping in a four man chasing group on the final lap.

In the main Waller Cup race for A and B riders, Graham Thomas latched on to a break from the B group that went clear from the line and stayed away to the end of six laps.

Thomas was eighth in the finishing gallop behind race winner David Malone (Usher IRC).

Michelle Geoghegan added an important haul of points with sixth place behind solo race winner Francine Meehan in round two of the Women's National League.

In the earlier Youth races, Craig Arrigan and Darragh Long were fourth and fifth respectively in a group sprint that decided the Under 14 race.

Meanwhile in Carlow, John Dillon was sixth and secured the first unplaced Veteran prize at the end of two tough laps of the Des Hanlon Memorial course in the Combined race for Veterans, Juniors and C Category riders.
