McNulty's second helpings in Brittas

Brittas, Co. Dublin, 6 August 2009

Gary McNulty's promotion to the Scratch group in the Inter-Club league at Brittas on Thursday night didn't take the edge off his finishing sprint as he scored his third top-two finish in a week.

Coming to the end of four laps of the new 'Brickworks' circuit selected by organisers St. Tiernan's, the Scratch group tagged onto the back of the combined forces of Semi-Scratch and Semi-Limit/Limit which had assembled on the second lap.

Shane Baker of the Usher Irish Road Club negotiated a way through the tightly grouped riders with McNulty in tow and they both managed to overhaul solo attacker Philip Browne (Usher Irish Road Club) in the run to the line.

It was McNulty's third top two-three in the last four league races and comes at the end of a seven day period including victory in last week's Inter-Club DMS and his second place finish in the Mountnugent Grand Prix in Cavan on Saturday.

Declan Quigley, who made the start with just seconds to spare after traffic delays on the M50, retained enough nervous energy to hang on for sixth place in the final gallop.
