ORWELL LADIES CRITERIUM LEAGUE 2010

Orwell Wheelers is proud to announce its first ever Ladies Criterium League (laps of a flattish 800m circuit) this year, running for 6 weeks from Tuesday 13th April 2010 @ 7pm (kicking off with a TT at Johnny Fox's Pub (draggy, straight 5km) + 5 Crit rounds in Sandyford Industrial Estate every Tuesday evening @ 7pm with sign-on from 6.30pm)- open to all riders with a Club Racing Licence & one-day Licences will also be available- full details will be announced soon. This will be great for improving cornering & bunch skills. There will be nightly prizes, overall & most improved rider trophies & tea/coffee & sandwiches each night. Please confirm your interest if racing and/or whether you are free to marshal. We will need at least 6 marshals each Tuesday night of 13th April, 20th April, 27th April, 4th May, 11th May & 18th May 2010 from approx 6.45pm to 8.15pm- all marshals will be fed and watered!

Hey Aideen, happy to volunteer for marshalling any day, I only live round the corner so it's no trouble.

I'll be happy to lend a hand as well.

Just wondering what the route is for the TT? the words 'Johnny Foxes' and 'draggy' are striking the fear into me....

The surface is in very good condition, 4 corners per lap, 1 side uphill, 1 side down and 2 sides on the level.

This used to be a very popular circuit for schoolboy racing in the late 80s/ early 90s, and a lot of the guys of a certain age have been coming over all nostalgic at the mention of it.

Thanks Dave. From what I gather the Boot Inn circuit also brings out a bit of nostalgia in people so it's a nice touch that the new circuit does too :)

how many laps / time will we go on for? 1 hour plus so many laps?

Thanks to Dave for the timing and Dick for holding the bikes, and all the other bodies who helped out too. I thought it was a great choice of course and a great start to the league.

I certainly didn't miss the truck dodging dash out to the Airport either :)
