  • The fountain of youth

The Youth and Junior members of the club have been extremely active and successful over the last few weeks, not least on the track! Below we cover the prolific road exploits of Ciaran Keogh, Andrew Ryan, Naoise and Uisneach Sheridan, and Conor and Sean Murnane, with the latter giving us an account of his experiences at the National Youth Championships.

  • The young and the restless

A couple of great results from the younger ranks in the last few weeks - Conor Murnane earned the unplaced Junior prize in Clonard two weeks ago, followed by Ciarán Keogh's fantastic 4ths in two rounds of the U16 MTB Blitz. Yesterday both Andrew Ryan and Sean Murnane featured in their respective races in the Des Hanlon!

  • Tom retakes TT title; Eoin emerges triumphant

Previous holder of the 25TT title, Tom Blennerhassett retook it in imperious style in R15 of the club league, while Ann Horan blazed to the women's title by nearly a minute over her nearest rival. R16 saw the lowest turnout yet for a round, with Eoin Byrne emerging triumphant in horrendous conditions.

  • Two sets of Thanks

  • Underage update

While the Seniors are having a very strong season our underage riders are keeping pace and very often setting the bar high early in the day.

  • Winning women and Terrific Testers

The races came thick and fast over the weekend, with Kilmessan hosting two days of events for Ciara Kinch and Orla Hendron to take envelopes home from, and the Ballinrobe 2 Day taking place out west, with Pat O'Brien, Neal Hudson, Ronan Grimes and Aideen Keenan all putting in strong performances, and Keenan winning the women's prize there. This all followed the club TTT, won by a team featuring Colum Bradley, Daniel McElroy, and Sean and Conor Murnane.

  • Young guns

The youth riders of Orwell have been ripping it up again, with Daisy O'Shea and Andrew Ryan in action in Bohermeen, Uisneach Sheridan competing in Wexford, and Seán Murnane taking part in another stage race in Kanturk on top of Bohermeen.

  • Youth fun and games

The youngsters got the jump on the adults this week when they started back for winter training in Corkagh Park as part of the newly restarted youth sessions. Read how they got on below!

  • Youths take over LucanBMX

Last Sunday, the Orwell Youths went on an away day to Lucan BMX club. It is one of a series of a trips they will be doing over the winter, introducing them to different disciplines and will include MTBing, CX, Track and Crit cycling. If anyone of you thought that BMXing was easy peasy, be warned - there is a reason they insist on full face masks.
